By Cory Thompson – Fruita CO

In 2025, mental health awareness continues to trend across search engines, news outlets, and everyday conversations. And rightfully so—well-being isn’t just a personal issue; it’s a community one.

As an executive based in Fruita CO and active throughout Grand Junction CO, I’ve seen the increasing need for mental health support in our neighborhoods, businesses, and schools. Strong communities start with healthy individuals, and that includes mental wellness.

I’m Cory Thompson, and part of my mission in western Colorado is to help make resources more accessible, reduce stigma, and support efforts that build mentally stronger communities.

Why This Matters Locally

From the pressure felt by working professionals to the emotional toll on young people, mental health challenges touch every corner of our region. As someone deeply connected to both Fruita and Grand Junction, I see the direct link between emotional wellness and economic resilience.

Healthy minds lead to:

  • Higher productivity
  • Stronger family and workplace relationships
  • Greater long-term community engagement

How Leadership Can Help

Leadership is about listening. It’s about encouraging environments where people feel safe, supported, and heard.

Here in western Colorado, I’m proud to see local businesses and nonprofits launching programs focused on:

  • Wellness days and employee assistance services
  • Counseling access through partnerships with regional providers
  • Public events focused on mental health education
